Siblings and Clans in Polygamy Arise from a Lack of Sound Education

Life in polygamy is often summarized in terms of maternal siblings and clans, but it can only be understood by living it, by knowing the threads of education within its specific context. In the French press—those sensationalist editorials that still think of themselves as being in the “metropole”—a nightmarish social life is depicted, based on the simple premise that a man living with several wives can only be a scoundrel. Yet, counting the number of jerks in France is an impossible task, as a certain De Gaulle once pointed out.

Of course, negative cases abound. Polygamous families in crisis are also countless. But if one looks for the “hows and whys,” it quickly becomes clear that everything was doomed to failure from the very start.
